GLENMORE PRIMARY SCHOOL
1961 - 2025

CODING AND ROBOTICS
In line with the Department of Basic Education’s proposed inclusion of Robotics and Coding in the school curriculum within the next few years, Glenmore Primary is introducing these invaluable digital skills during the weekly computer lessons for grade R to grade 6.
Our Foundation Phase will be learning the fundamentals of coding and writing basic algorithms while having fun with our new Bee-Bots. These are child friendly robots which help learners to use logic and computational thinking as they design, write and debug programs to complete specific tasks.
Grade 2 - Grade 6 learners will also be introduced to coding using ScratchJr. This is a visual programming language which allows young children to learn and explore the basics of block-based coding while creating interactive stories and games.
It is our goal to enable and encourage learners to think critically, be creative and innovative, and to work independently or as a team, to solve problems and achieve goals in the ever-changing world of technology.
